american standard humidifier 2Whole-Home Humidifiers deliver the perfect amount of moisture to your air making you feel more comfortable at lower thermostat settings. The US EPA states that you can save up to 4% on your heating bill for every degree you lower your thermostat!

Whole home humidifiers increase your family’s level of comfort and protect your valuable furnishings by adding just the right amount of moisture to your home.

There are four important considerations when considering a whole home humidifier:

  • Precise Humidity Control
  • Sufficient Capacity,
  • Trouble-free performance
  • Minimum maintenance.

An AirPlus Service Engineer can assist you in selecting the right humidifier for your home from amongst the three types of whole home humidifiers available.

  1. Drum – They install on your cold air return line, and use a motor and belt to essentially lift cold water from a drum into the air and lets evaporation and the passing air movement to pick up the moisture. These require considerable maintenance it has standing water and risk of mold due to the standing water. Belts require frequent replacement
  1. Flow Through – These can be installed on return or supply line. These are the middle of the road in cost and performance. They also use evaporation, but you do not have standing water. There is a filter that water flows through (drip) and the air blows through the filter. The water however, needs to be drained, and new water is always trickling though. Since it always uses new water, the risk of mold is almost very low. It uses no electricity, but does require a water line and constant supply of fresh clean water.
  1. Mist / Steam – The most effective whole home humidifier. They produce steam, rather than relying on evaporation. As a result of this, the desired humidity can be more easily controlled. Requires both electricity and a water supply line. Risk of mold is low due to no standing water.
